BOMBANANA Build the bomb you actually need

Five knobs: difficulty, timer, modules, hazards, mistakes. Point them at a weakness, not at a clip.

BOMBANANA Custom Bombs

BOMBANANA Custom is the drill room. Lefto Studio shipped it with the full Steam release on 2 September 2026 (app 4656000, published by TARK) so a trio can set bomb difficulty, the explosion timer, which module types appear, which environmental hazards are in play, and how many mistakes the case will tolerate. That is the whole feature. It is not a secret Campaign stage and it is not Endless with a menu on the front.

The word sounds friendly. The knobs are not. Turn them toward teaching and Custom drops below Campaign Levels on pressure: one module type, a long clock, zero hazards, extra mistakes. Turn them toward spectacle and Custom jumps over Endless: CHAOS plus a keypad, a brutal timer, outages and noise, one mistake, airplane clutter. That second setup is a party wipe machine. Do not brag about it to a Mute who still needs a wait sign.

You still need exactly three online players on Windows or macOS. Roles do not change because you opened a sandbox. Blind touches the bomb, cannot see colors or screens, reads braille by touch, and hears speech. Mute has the manual and cannot speak. Deaf sees, speaks, and cannot hear. Information still travels Mute to Deaf to Blind. Custom only decides how cruel the homework is.

If the trio has not finished a single casing, start with Getting Started and an early Campaign bomb. Come here when you know which family, hazard, or habit actually killed the last run.

The five knobs, in the order you should touch them

Module types first. Isolate the family that broke. Wires if the count still arrives after the colors. Direction if left and right still mean the camera. The jumbled keypad if anyone is pressing telephone corners. Switches if Enter is a panic key. The full game adds fourteen new modules on top of those demo-era families: eleven standard puzzles and three CHAOS modules built to keep Blind busy. This wiki will not invent names for the new tables. If a new family wrecked you, enable that type alone, or that type plus wires, and leave the rest off.

Timer second. A long clock is how Mute finds the page without Deaf filling in a guess. A short clock is how you test whether the packet is actually automatic. Do not shorten the timer to make a teaching bomb feel like content. Shorten it after the sentence is boring.

Mistake limit third. Extra mistakes let Blind report a miss and wait. One mistake is a live Campaign impression. Zero is a dare. New operators should see more than one life while they learn that a cut is permanent.

Bomb difficulty fourth. Use it as a density knob after the family is chosen, not as a substitute for reading the manual. Difficulty is not a license to enable every module at once.

Environmental hazards last. Power outages, obstructions, and loud interruptions belong in a bomb only after the packet survives a quiet room. Add one hazard, not all three. Environments explains how the minivan and the airplane change those events. Custom can put the same hazard in either workplace; it cannot teach you sight lines if you never look up from the case.

Presets this wiki will actually defend

  • Dictionary drill. Wires only, long timer, no hazards, extra mistakes. Coach count first, colors left to right from Blind’s body, then LED. Park the callout sheet where Mute and Deaf can see it.
  • Branch drill. Keypad only, medium timer, no hazards. Deaf reads the full expression. Mute picks the branch. Blind presses the named glyph, not a phone-pad slot.
  • Enter drill. Switches only, medium timer, no hazards. The full light order and the numbers land before anyone arms Enter.
  • Busy-hands drill. Enable CHAOS with one quiet family, a long timer, and a mistake limit above one. Blind stays occupied without skipping repeat-back. Mute and Deaf do not start a second novel while the hands are busy.
  • Hazard drill. Wires plus direction, medium timer, outages on. Practice the stop phrase, then a full reread. Noise and obstructions wait until that hold is real.
  • Do not use. Every module, every hazard, shortest timer, one mistake, airplane clutter, while someone is new on Deaf. That is not a drill. That is a clip.

The June 2026 demo (app 4747510) launched 15 June and offered a Free Mode sandbox before Lefto took the demo down around 20 August to test full features. The studio said the demo would return at full launch with the same slice plus extras. Do not quote Free Mode sliders as if they were today’s Custom. The paid game is the authority. History lives on the demo notes and launch notes.

How Custom feeds Campaign and Endless

Campaign is the course. Custom is the homework. Endless is the exam. A practical night is not three hours of the sandbox. It is one Custom bomb aimed at the family that exploded, then a return to the authored ladder, then maybe a wave if the packet held.

HowLongToBeat community estimates put Campaign’s main story around two hours. That is a community estimate, not an official studio length. Custom can make a night last twenty minutes or four hours depending on how you point the knobs. If you only ever live in the sandbox, you will never see the mix Lefto wrote for the airplane. If you never open Custom, you will keep dying on the same keypad in Campaign and call the level unfair.

Use Custom to test two colorblind modes without burning a Campaign unlock. Use it to practice Mute’s emote size so Deaf can read the wheel from across a cabin. Use it with the random role button only after the trio already knows every job. Lobby setup is the click-by-click version. Playing Co-op is the social version. Public Custom lobbies with a two-second timer are troll rooms. Host a code.

Role jobs do not relax because you set the clock

Blind Monkey still waits for a repeat-back. Mute Monkey still answers with gestures. Deaf Monkey still owns the mouth. Communication still bans a second talker. Controls still wants interact bound away from slap. Custom is where you notice that slap is sitting next to cut, because you can afford the mistake. Then you rebind before Campaign takes the extra life away.

Steam Deck compatibility is Unknown. Full controller support exists on the Windows and macOS clients. Confirm binds in Options, then run a gentle Custom bomb before you sell a pad night as ready for Endless. Specs sit on system requirements. Rank which seats suffer when you crank density on the role tier list. Rank the playlist itself on the mode tier list. Module process, not fake keys, lives in Puzzle Modules.

Price is $7.99, introductory $4.95 through 9 September 2026. Early full-game reviews sit at Very Positive, about 78 reviews and 100 percent positive at last check. Custom is in that build. It is not a coming attraction. If a later Steam news post retunes a knob, check patch notes before you copy last week’s preset.

When the drill is boring, you are done. Go back to Campaign and spend the skill on an authored mix, or open Endless and see whether the sentence survives a generator. The rest of the walkthroughs sit on the guides hub. Role pages sit on the players hub. The wiki hub is the short fact sheet. If you only wanted to know whether a sandbox is worth three copies, read the BOMBANANA review and then point these knobs at one real weakness instead of at everything at once.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for three-player bomb runs.

What can we change in BOMBANANA Custom?

Bomb difficulty, explosion timer, module types, environmental hazards, and the mistake limit. That list is the feature. Details on workplaces sit in environments.

Is Custom the same as the demo Free Mode?

No. Free Mode was a demo-era cousin. The paid Custom knobs are in the 2 September 2026 build. Do not copy old sandbox settings as law. See demo notes.

Should we use Custom or Campaign to learn?

Campaign teaches the mix. Custom isolates the family that broke. Most groups should live in Campaign and open this page as homework, not as a replacement course.

When is a Custom bomb harder than Endless?

When you enable every module, every hazard, a brutal timer, and almost no mistakes. Endless is high default pressure. Custom can go higher on purpose. Rank both on the mode tier list.

How do we practice CHAOS without wrecking the night?

Enable the CHAOS type with one quiet family, a long timer, and extra mistakes. Blind stays busy; Mute and Deaf keep packets serial. Process is on Puzzle Modules.

Can Custom change the three roles?

No. Blind still operates, Mute still reads, Deaf still speaks. Seats are on the players hub. The knobs change pressure, not who is allowed to touch the case.
